Mock Exam Marking

Bespoke Test Design

Tests designed around your school, your pupils, your priorities.

Designing a good assessment is harder than it looks. Anyone can pull together a set of questions and call it a test, but a paper that reliably measures what your pupils know, exposes the right gaps and drives the next stage of learning takes real craft. We have spent years designing assessments and mark schemes for schools, and we apply the same discipline to every paper we produce — whether it is an end-of-unit KS3 test or a full GCSE or IGCSE mock.

What We Design

A full range of papers, written to your specification.

Some schools come to us for a single GCSE mock to sit alongside their existing programme. Others want a complete suite of KS3 assessments to underpin a new curriculum. Whatever the scope, every paper is written by an experienced subject specialist and quality-assured by a second.

  • GCSE & IGCSE mock papers
  • KS3 end-of-unit and end-of-year tests
  • Topic and skills tests
  • Accompanying mark schemes
  • Pupil-facing feedback documents
Tailored Design

Tailored at every level.

Four ways we shape every paper around the school that commissions it.

01

Built From Your Data

Tests informed by Question Level Analysis.

This is where bespoke design earns its name. If your school has been gathering Question Level Analysis (QLA) from previous mocks or in-school assessments, we can build that intelligence directly into the design of your next paper. Rather than producing a generic test that samples the specification at random, we can target the topics, skills and question types where your pupils have been underperforming — and weight the paper accordingly.

  • QLA-informed weighting
  • Question types matched to identified gaps
  • Calibrated difficulty
  • Built-in stretch for HAPs
02

Matched To Your Curriculum

A test that mirrors what you actually teach.

Many schools have invested significant time in designing their own curriculum — particularly at KS3 — and need assessments that reflect what has actually been taught, in the order it has been taught. We work directly with your curriculum documents, schemes of work and lesson sequences to produce tests that align precisely with your provision.

  • Curriculum-aligned content
  • Matched to your scheme of work
  • Sequenced to your teaching order
  • Designed around your end-points
03

Mark Schemes That Match

Every paper comes with a mark scheme designed to the same standard.

Our mark schemes are produced by the same subject specialists who design the paper. They include indicative content, levels-of-response criteria where appropriate, and clear guidance for markers — so that whether you mark in-house or use our external marking service, the data you collect is reliable and comparable.

  • Subject-specialist authored
  • Levels-of-response criteria
  • Indicative content
  • Marker guidance notes
04

A System That Measures Progress

Designing the assessment, and the framework around it.

A single test gives you a snapshot. A coherent sequence of tests, designed together, gives you a story. We can help your school build a longitudinal assessment system — a series of papers that work together across the year, with a statistical framework that lets you measure progress meaningfully from one assessment point to the next.

  • Coherent sequence of papers
  • Comparable difficulty across assessment points
  • Anchor questions for calibration
  • Guidance on interpreting progress data

Why Bespoke Matters

Some test design looks straightforward from the outside. The reality is that an assessment which produces reliable, useful data — and which genuinely moves learning forward — is the result of careful decisions about content, weighting, question type, mark allocation and difficulty. When a school commissions us to design a paper, they are paying for that judgement to sit behind every question.

Subject Coverage

Our writing teams cover the major GCSE and IGCSE subjects and most KS3 specifications. If you are working on something more unusual, get in touch — there is a strong chance we can help.
